Last week, 3rd grade students explored stations in music. They enjoyed easing music books, playing with puppets, coloring by music symbols, writing the room, and playing on the electric pianos! They loved getting to move around the room and all the activities of this lesson.

Last week 4th grade students made a musical snowman, played electric pianos, colored by music symbols, and learned about the treble clef staff in a google classroom activity, and practiced writing sixteenth notes.

Mrs. Gowers’ first graders are participating in a snowman exchange! Letters and snowmen are received from other states. They are learning about state birds, flowers, teams, class sizes, and many other fun and interesting facts! As they receive letters, each state is recorded on a map ! They are so excited whenever a new letter arrives!

Wishing a warm welcome back to our fantastic students! We're excited to see you back in the classroom. Let's make the most of every learning opportunity in 2024!

Third Graders at WPES participated in holiday fun by making ornaments and enjoying a hot cocoa bar. What a way to kick off the holidays!

The preschool classes had a wonderful time with their families making gingerbread houses. A lot of fun was had by all! Thank you to some special fourth and fifth grade helpers and administrators who helped and joined in the festivities.

Join us tonight (December 14) for the WPPS School Board Meeting. The meeting is open to the public.

REMINDER: On Friday, December 15, all WPPS schools will have an early release. ⏰

West Rock rocks! 6th graders had a blast learning about the mill. They learned how the mill converts their own energy, and how they recycle and reuse materials in the process of making paper. The highlight was making their own sheets of paper from pulp just like the mill does!

In Art/STEAM classes this week, PK-2nd grade students designed “traps” for capturing a snowman after listening to the story How to Catch a Snowman by Adam Wallace and Andy Elkerton. Students (and Mrs. Hixenbaugh!) are hoping to be able to build a real snowman this year!

Students at WPES were treated to some special stories this week from special readers. Our own West Rock Paper Mill shared employees with us to read to our students. We are thankful for great partnerships within our town!

Friday, January 12th will be Hat Day at WPMS/HS! See the flyer for more details.
