COMMUNITY BUILDERS vs. COMMUNITY BREAKERS! 💥

What kind of impact do our everyday choices have on our school community?

On Wednesday and Thursday of last week, our 9th graders worked with Ms. Rush to explore the difference between Community Builders—actions that create respect, belonging, trust, and teamwork—and Community Breakers—actions that can create conflict, exclusion, or negativity. Students worked in teams to discuss and share:

✨ How their words and actions affect others
🤝 Ways to make others feel included
🧠 How to respond when something is hurting the community
📱 How can social media posts, comments, and group chats build up—or break down—our school community?
🌱 Small choices that can make a BIG difference

The 9th-grade students issue a challenge to the school community: Be the person who helps build the community you want to be part of!

Today marks 25 years since a day that forever changed our nation. We honor the memory of those we lost on 9/11 and reflect on the courage, compassion, and resilience that brought Americans together.

Take care of your Chromebook, and it’ll be ready when you need it! WPPS families, remind your student of a few simple habits to help keep their district-issued device in great shape all year:

✅ Carry it carefully with two hands
✅ Charge it every night
✅ Keep food and drinks away
✅ Use a protective case or sleeve when transporting it
✅ Clean it with a soft, dry microfiber cloth
✅ Report damage or technical problems to a teacher or the school technology team

A little Chromebook care goes a long way toward keeping students connected and ready to learn each day! 💻📚

A strong school year starts with strong attendance! 💪

Help your student build a positive attendance routine by setting a consistent bedtime and morning schedule, preparing clothes and backpacks the night before, and planning ahead for appointments and other commitments.

Small routines can make it easier to get to school on time and ready to learn each day.

Let’s start the year strong by making attendance a priority!

Yesterday, our culinary students got a hands-on lesson in the importance of proper handwashing! 🧼👋

In the first picture, their hands are covered in a safe substance that glows under a blacklight, representing bacteria. The next two pictures show their hands after washing, allowing them to see just how effective their technique was.

How did they do? You be the judge! 🔦👐
