February is School Board Appreciation Month! This week, we will celebrate one Board member each day. To begin this special time of recognition, we’re thrilled to highlight the outstanding leadership of Board Chair Elliot Jenkins. 🌟
Your visionary leadership and passion for educational excellence inspire us all. Thank you for steering our division towards success with passion and dedication!

As we celebrate Career and Technical Education Month, we invite students to explore all the diverse pathways available to them. Together, we pave the way for future success in high-demand industries! 💡

Today is National School Resource Officer Day! We are excited to recognize School Resource Officer Bill Schramm and School Resource Officer Kate Kennedy. Thank you for your work to maintain a safe learning environment.

Happy Valentine's Day! We hope everyone in our community has a wonderful day. ❤️

WPMS/HS student leaders met with Dr. Frazier to give feedback about their school. These proud Pointers shared what is going well and ideas for improvement!

February 12-16 is School Board Clerk Appreciation Week, and WPPS extends a special thank you to our clerk, Nate Leach! 🙏
Your organizational prowess and dedication keep our board running smoothly. We appreciate your hard work and commitment to our school community!

The Specials Team at WPES, Mrs. Tasheia Dokes and the family of Billy Graham, the first black Marvel comic book artist, collaborated to educate students about the history of comics and Graham’s influential presence with his amazing artwork and screenplays. The students were excited to hear about Graham’s groundbreaking role with superheroes they have seen in recent movies and TV shows, like Black Panther and Luke Cage. Thank you to the Graham family for helping our students dream big and allowing WPES to be a part of your story with behind the scene glances of a comic book legend with local roots.

Calling all WPES Parents! SCA is hosting a food drive for local families. The food drive will starts today 2/9 and go through Friday 2/16. Please send in all non-perishable items you can. If buying canned items, POP TOP CANS are what is better suited for this food drive. We want to make sure the kids can open them without using a can opener.

REMINDER: WPPS will implement the next phase of the weapon detection system at West Point Elementary School on Thursday, February 8th. All students, teachers, and visitors are required to proceed through the detectors when entering the building.

REMINDER: Parent/Teacher Conferences are happening Monday, February 5, through Thursday, February 8. We hope to see you there! ✍️

Happy National School Counseling Week! ✨
We’d like to send a shoutout to Kaylee Powell, Amy Rush, and Denise McCuistion, our exceptional counselors who go above and beyond to support our students. Your impact extends far beyond the counseling office—and we appreciate everything you do!

This year, WPMS/HS started having "Motivational Mondays" to help inspire everyone in the building to start the week off with a positive attitude. Teachers were encouraged to find shirts to help spread the message. What a coincidence that Mrs. Borinski, Mrs. Lohr, and Mrs. Ambrose all found the same shirt and wore it on the same day! Now that's a positive message!

On a regular basis, the middle school language arts classes come to the library for lessons on Information Literacy. Mrs. Borinski, the Library Media Specialist, teaches them skills that will carry over into their everyday lives and will help them understand how to find correct information and what to do with it. On this day, she taught them about plagiarism and then they played a game to answer questions about what they learned.

Students in Ms. Bland's third grade class practiced making inferences using visual cues! Students were able to write on balloons, rather than paper to help make the writing process more engaging.

Students in the preschool classes learned about nursery rhymes through various math and literacy activities this week. Measuring and patterns were just some of the hands on learning experiences they had.

This February, we honor Black History Month and the impact of African Americans in literature, art, music, sciences, government, and countless other areas. Let's continue to celebrate, learn, and grow.

Students in Mrs. Lohr’s 10th grade English class have been working collaboratively on projects, as they read Lord of the Flies. Recently, students constructed 3D maps of the island based on textual evidence.
