This week is National School Bus Safety Week! We want to share some important safety tips with students:
🚌Always stand back from the curb and line up when waiting for the bus
🚌Stay seated while the bus is in motion
🚌Keep bags and belongings under the seat or on your lap
🚌Keep your volume down and avoid loud noises that can distract the driver
🚌Always follow the driver’s instructions

Cannon Country 107.9 and Blessing and Blooms Florist are doing a monthly floral giveaway to show love and support in our community by accepting teacher nominations of those who deserve a special thank you for what they do. This is the first month they are doing this, and WPES teacher Kathryn Bland was selected. The florist from Blessing and Blooms came to the school to present her with flowers. This is a great testament to how much her students and families appreciate her!
Mrs. Tate created two observation tanks for students to learn about Chesapeake Bay species. All species were obtained with a permit through the Virginia Institute of Marine Science. Our students observed the female Chesapeake Blue Crab, affectionately named Blueberry, molted overnight. Students monitored the process yesterday and this morning, she was fully out of her shell and twice as big!

YMCA Swim Water Safety and Swim Lessons ended Thursday, September 12th with a big splash! Our students have gained confidence and knowledge. Just keep swimming!
We are off to a great start! 8th-grade Physical Science students in Mrs. Tate's class practiced making precise measurements with the metric system and using equipment in this fun and colorful Rainbow Rack lab.
