West Point, VA — West Point Public Schools is proud to recognize Mr. Sean Klaver as the Division Teacher of the Year and Mrs. Megan Billet as the Division Support Staff Member of the Year. These two outstanding educators exemplify the division’s core values of RISE — Relationships, Innovation, Student-Centered, and Excellence — and continue to keep West Point Public Schools Pointed in the Right Direction.
Mr. Sean Klaver, a history and government teacher at West Point Middle/High School, is known for bringing energy, relevance, and rigor into his classroom. His passion for civic understanding and historical inquiry inspires students to think critically about the world around them.
“Mr. Klaver’s enthusiasm and depth of knowledge spill over in his classroom where he engages students in lively discussions, relevant learning experiences, and critical thinking about their world,” said Dr. Byrd, Principal of West Point Middle/High School.
Ms. Megan Billet, an interventionist at West Point Elementary School, supports students in second and third grades, including students with disabilities. Her daily work reflects a deep commitment to meeting students where they are and helping them grow academically and emotionally.
“Mrs. Billet is the kind of person every school hopes to have on its team,” said Mrs. Goodwin, Principal of West Point Elementary School. “She brings kindness and patience to each day, always putting students first and offering encouragement when it’s needed most. Whether she’s teaching a small group, collaborating with teachers, or simply encouraging a student to keep trying with a warm smile, Mrs. Billet shows what it truly means to be a team player. Our school community is stronger because of her commitment and care, and we are grateful she keeps us pointed in the right direction every day.”
Superintendent Dr. Larry L. Frazier, Jr. praised both honorees for the lasting impact they have across the division.
“Mr. Klaver and Ms. Billet represent the very best of West Point Public Schools,” said Dr. Frazier. “They build strong relationships, place students at the center of their work, embrace innovation, and pursue excellence every day. Their dedication reminds us that it is our people — not programs — who make the greatest difference for students. Because of educators like Sean and Megan, our division remains truly pointed in the right direction.”
West Point Public Schools congratulates Mr. Klaver and Ms. Billet and thanks them for their unwavering commitment to students, staff, and the community
